Little Kwara Camp is the sister camp of Kwara Camp, but they are run as individual properties. Little Kwara is on an island, at the edge of the Delta’s permanent waters.
Little Kwara Camp is small (accommodating only 8 guests) and intimate. It is particularly suitable for families, or small groups of friends. Guests are accommodated in spacious tents, each with a private deck. En suite facilities include indoor/ outdoor showers, and a bath.
Activities are varied, as is the habitat of the area. Game viewing is generally excellent, and a degree of off-road driving is permitted, in order to get better sightings. This increases the chance of seeing lion, leopard, and wild dog, for example. Night drives give you the chance to see some of the many and varied nocturnally active species.
Little Kwara Camp also offers mokoro (dug-out canoe) trips year-round. Mokoro trips are arguably the best way of exploring the waterways, and also allows for some excellent birding, and photographic opportunities. During these excursions, you also enjoy some stops on the nearby islands, to do some short walks.
In addition, the camp offers a double-deck boat for river cruises – giving some excellent views of the area, an allowing for some game viewing. Fishing (on request) is also available - using normal reel and rod. Should you prefer fly-fishing, you should bring your own equipment.
To put the Kwando Concession area into context - 175 000 ha is 1.8 times the size of the Hluhluwe Mfolosi Game Reserve or about 9% of the Kruger National Park.
Guiding at Little Kwara Camp is outstanding - Kwando - who operate the Camp were awarded the Good Safari Guide Award for Best Guiding.
Client Feedback on Little Kwara Camp:
We had the most exciting animal spottings at Little Kwara. We found some interesting other people there, enjoyed the physical accommodations a great deal and found the staff accommodating, friendly and responsive to inquiries and requests for assistance. The food was good. The staff at Little Kwara were especially concerned about my husband and really put themselves out to make sure that he was fine. High marks for Little Kwara. One guest in the travel industry repeatedly said Little Kwara was the best lodge in Botswana. We would return.
